Retiree Connection Needs Volunteers to Staff the Helpline

Join the Retiree Connection-Help Fellow Red Cross Retirees

Your fellow retirees need your help!  We are seeking additional volunteers to staff the Retiree Connection Program, our nationwide call-back helpline service that assists Red Cross retirees with pension and benefit issues as well as many other concerns faced by retirees. We currently average about four calls each week. This call rate has remained steady even after the movement of many retirees to the annuity providers.

ARCRA retiree volunteers, called Links, staff the Retiree Connection by monitoring the voicemail box and returning calls. Links work from home and check the connection voicemail on a daily basis for a one week-long shift about 6 times each year. Our current links report that making the calls is personally satisfying as they reconnect with fellow retirees one-on-one, and have shared Red Cross friends and memories.

An orientation, resource book, and ongoing support are provided to the links by the program coordinator.  You can call the connection line at 202-303-8779 and leave a message for more information or email admin@arcretireeassoc.org We look forward to hearing from you.
