Walking just ten minutes a day can make a difference in longevity

It is true....a short, ten minute walk can make a difference, especially for folks 85 and older.  A new study found that walking could reduce the risk of mortality due to cardiovascular disease, and mortality in people 85 and older.  Medical News Today reports that those walking at least one hour a week had a lower risk of all-cause mortality and cardiovascular disease than peers who did not participate in physical activity.

Physical activity can reduce the risk of chronic illness, such as cardiovascular diseases and diabetes, and can slow down the impact of aging on physical and cognitive decline. Moreover, physical activity can help preserve flexibility and balance in older individuals and enable them to function independently.
